Selecting A Bank

Whether you’re looking for a bank for the first time, or looking to change banks, there are a lot of things to consider. It’s important to read up on the features that various banks and accounts have to offer. Click the links below to read more about each of the topics:

You may also want to check out the various Bank of America Resources to help you take control of your finances.

Location & Accessibility

Location & AccessibilityLocation might be one of first things you consider when choosing a bank. You might want a bank that has several branches near where you live, work and/or go to school. If you’re a college student attending school away from home, you might want a bank that has locations in both the city where you go to school and in your hometown. This way, you can avoid the withdrawal fees that most banks charge if you do not bank with them.

There are some other things you might want to consider when assessing the convenience factors of a bank as well.

  • What are the bank’s hours?
  • How long are the lines when you go to the branch closest to you?
  • Does the bank offer drive-up banking at its locations, including ATMs?
  • Does the bank have alternate retail locations with extended hours, such as in grocery stores?
